He introduced the beautiful view from his accommodation, describing it as "the Pacific seen from the balcony overlooking the active volcano of Big Island Kona." He also added, "After a good night's sleep last night, I feel like I will soon adapt to the time difference," expressing that his heart, which had been torn during the 30-year journey involving the People Power Party's presidential candidate selection and confirmation process, is beginning to heal to some extent.

A Background of Political Conflict and the Trip to Hawaii

In the 21st presidential election internal primary, Hong showed confidence but faced a situation where he did not advance to the finals. Consequently, he announced his retirement from politics along with his departure from the People Power Party, where he had spent 30 years, and maintained silence for a while.

However, as movements to support former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo were detected in the recent unification process of the People Power Party's presidential candidates, Hong strongly criticized it as a planned operation by forces associated with former President Yoon Suk-yeol.

He directly accused former President Yoon and the party's leadership, including Kwon Young-se and Kwon Sung-dong, of being "the 'X' that led the party to ruin," demanding their retirement from politics.

After departing for Hawaii on the 10th, Hong expressed his approval when the candidacy proposal for former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo was rejected in a party member vote, stating, "As it should be." He also strongly argued for the political exile of pro-Yoon mainstream core lawmakers, including former President Yoon and 'Double Kwon' (Kwon Young-se, Kwon Sung-dong).

The retreat in Hawaii is a choice by Hong Jun-pyo to find mental stability, stepping away from the political conflicts and stress he has faced.

Surrounded by the expansive Pacific scenery, he seems to be healing political wounds and recharging with new energy.
