"One Wrong Mercenary Hurts the Country and the Party"

Former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo has unleashed a fierce criticism towards former President Yoon Seok-yeol.

On the 7th, Hong expressed directly on his Facebook page, "Yoon Seok-yeol is ruining the country and now he is ruining the party," and stated, "One wrong mercenary has left the country bruised and the party bruised. This is what the expression 'Oh, how unfortunate' is used for."

Hong revealed experiences he had during the presidential primary process, showing his determination not to remain silent. He emphasized, "Leaving without saying a word is just a song by singer Hyun-mi," asserting, "I must reveal the process I experienced during the primaries before I depart."

Claims of a 'Kim Moon-soo Promotion' Scheme between Yongsan and the Party Leadership

Hong argued that although he had the lead in both public opinion and organization at the beginning of the primaries, the dynamics changed due to party power intervention.

"When I entered the primaries, I had the support of 48 members of the National Assembly and over 70 leaders of local party organizations, and I believed it would be easy to secure a majority in the second primary due to my lead in public opinion," he said. "However, Yongsan and the party leadership attempted to push Han Duck-soo, trying to turn the impeachment presidential election into a vote for Yoon Seok-yeol's re-endorsement."

He claimed, "Kim Moon-soo posed as a centrist candidate saying, 'Kim Duck-soo (Kim Moon-soo + Han Duck-soo),' while the party leadership viewed 'Kim Moon-soo as manageable' and plotted to eliminate me, who was an obstacle to Han Duck-soo."

Hong disclosed, "The organizations that supported me swiftly moved toward Kim Moon-soo, and I found out about four days before the primaries that Kim Moon-soo had risen to first place in party member support ratings."

"I Wanted to Leave This Filthy Game… Why Only Blame Kim Moon-soo"

Hong remarked, "Kim Moon-soo also has aspects where he reversed the insidious scheme of these people," recalling, "From that point on, I no longer wanted to be in this filthy game."

He continued, "Why only criticize Kim Moon-soo? Why don’t you criticize Han Duck-soo, who took the free ride and declared himself the avatar of Yoon Seok-yeol?" and added, "Isn't it possible for Kim Moon-soo to utilize their schemes as well?"

At the end of his statement, Hong asserted, "Even if I lose the election, I must lose with a clear purpose," stating, "Only then can I rise again. You all now are not an ideological group but merely an interest group, and such a party will ultimately perish, as the British Tory Party has demonstrated."
