Former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo Predicts Large-Scale Punishment for Officials in Yoon Seok-yeol Administration
Former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, who is currently staying in Hawaii, has forecast that many officials from the Yoon Seok-yeol administration will face significant punishments due to the launch of the third special prosecution team.
On the 15th, Hong shared his thoughts on his one-month stay in Hawaii's Big Island through social media, expressing his reflections on the political situation and stating, "During my month in Big Island, Hawaii, I contemplated the two sins I committed against the people and thought about what I should do for my country for the rest of my life."
He elaborated on the two sins he mentioned, explaining, "The sin of causing chaos in the country by enabling the Yoon Seok-yeol administration through a fraudulent primary three years ago" and "The sin of enabling the Lee Jae-myung administration by being subjected to the same fraudulent primary during the 21st presidential candidate primary."

Hong also commented on the anticipated political situation following the establishment of the Lee Jae-myung government. He expressed concern, stating, "I worry about how many more people will suffer from the cold winds of the Lee Jae-myung administration," and expressed alarm over the potential large-scale arrests and prosecutions that may arise from the launch of the special investigations on the civil unrest, Kim Geon-hee, and Chae Sang-byeong.
He emphasized, "Those who have committed sins should naturally face their consequences, but I hope no innocent victims arise."
Notably, Hong’s views on the future of the People Power Party are also worth mentioning.

In his communication channel 'Youth's Dream,' when asked by a supporter about former lawmaker Park Chan-jong's statement advocating for the dissolution of the People Power Party before it faces disbandment, Hong responded, "That is largely correct."
He added, "Those who collaborated with the Yoon Seok-yeol administration must be expelled, and we must start anew," reiterating his previous assertions about the loss of value in the existence of the People Power Party.
Having departed for Hawaii on the 10th of last month, Hong is expected to return soon, and interest is growing regarding his next moves in the political arena.
