High school golfer makes two hole-in-ones in one round… “A miracle of 1 in 67 million”

A miraculous event with a 1 in 67 million chance: two hole-in-ones in a single round

High school golfer Seong Ah-jin (18) achieved an unbelievable record at an amateur golf tournament.

Seong Ah-jin participated in the Korean Amateur Golf Championship and accomplished the remarkable feat of recording two hole-in-ones in one round. In golf, a hole-in-one means getting the ball into the hole with the first shot, and witnessing this occur twice in a single round has a nearly impossible probability of about 1 in 67 million.

Seong Ah-jin achieved this amazing record on the first day of the 32nd Songam Amateur Golf Championship held on the Jung/Dong course (Par 72) at Daegu Country Club in Gyeongsan City, Gyeongbuk on the 19th.

The reigning champion from last year's tournament, Seong Ah-jin struck her first hole-in-one with a 7-iron on the second hole (Par 3, 155m). She then created another miraculous scene when her shot with an 8-iron on the 14th hole (Par 3, 149m) went into the hole once again.

The special moments and current status of the amateur golf tournament

The probability of an amateur golfer making a hole-in-one is estimated to be about 1 in 12,500.

The likelihood of recording two hole-in-ones in a single round is 1 in 67 million, which is significantly lower than the odds of winning the lottery, which is 1 in 8 million.

Seong Ah-jin's record will remain a very rare case in golf history.

On that day, along with the two hole-in-ones, she scored three birdies, two bogeys, one double bogey, and one triple bogey, finishing with an even par of 72, which placed her tied for 23rd.

Although her ranking was not among the top, she is expected to receive a special award from the Songam Foundation due to this extraordinary record.

Meanwhile, the 32nd Songam Amateur Golf Championship, organized by the Korea Golf Association, features 180 promising players from across the country, including 7 national representatives and 14 national reserve team members.

The tournament will continue for four days until the 22nd, following a 72-hole stroke play format.
