Professional basketball player Heo Ung (31, KCC)'s ex-girlfriend A has been handed over to the prosecution on charges of blackmail.
The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul referred A to the prosecution on the 16th for charges of blackmail and attempted blackmail. Heo filed a complaint against A in June, claiming she threatened to expose his private life and demanded 300 million KRW.
The two dated for about three years starting in 2018. During this period, A had two pregnancies and abortions. They had conflicting views on these events.
Heo emphasized that while A's pregnancies and abortions were true, they were not forced. After their breakup, he claimed that she used the pregnancies to demand money and made threats for three years.
On the other hand, A argued that the pregnancies were unwanted and the abortions were coerced. She counter-sued Heo for rape and injury. She also claimed that her monetary demands were made in a fit of rage.
Heo additionally filed a complaint against A and her acquaintance B for violating drug control laws. The police deemed there was no evidence of this and plan not to pursue charges.
Heo's side released a statement regarding A's referral to the prosecution: "I deeply regret disappointing fans over a personal matter and am sincerely sorry."
A representative stated, "We will actively respond to clarify the truth of the incident and will sincerely participate in the remaining legal procedures."
