The Courage of a Grandson Who Rescued His Grandmother Amid Heavy Rain

Recently, a touching story surfaced about a grandson who carried his 90-year-old grandmother hundreds of meters to safety during a landslide caused by torrential rain in Sancheong, Gyeongnam.

According to reports from Sancheong-gun on the 21st, a landslide occurred in Byeongjeong Village, Sancheong-eup, on the morning of the 19th due to the pouring rain. At that time, Hyun Dae-hwan (28) went outside to check the situation and witnessed a dangerous scene as a loud noise accompanied by soil and gravel came rushing toward him.

Although Hyun got trapped up to his lower body under the debris that struck his home, he managed to escape. Later, he discovered that his grandmother had been swept out of the house and was lying on a rock near the garage below.

Hyun's house, located on a slope, was a two-story building above a garage. His grandmother had fallen from the first floor all the way down to the garage due to the landslide.

In a hurry, Hyun called 119 for help, but was informed that it would take time for the rescue team to arrive as the road was blocked. Therefore, he first assisted his grandmother to a resting area at the local village hall.

After surveying the area, he noticed an ambulance from 119 waiting about 700 meters away at the village entrance. Without hesitation, Hyun picked up his grandmother and ran to the village entrance.
