According to the legal community on the 26th, Judge Park Dong-wook of the Chuncheon District Court recently sentenced A (55, female) to a fine of 3 million KRW for charges of intimidation.

A was indicted for calling B, the store owner, on February 13, 2023, out of anger believing her son was treated unfairly and dismissed from B's store, threatening, "I will do to you what my son has suffered."

In particular, A allegedly called B again, threatening, "I was going to kill your child too," "Did you see The Glory? After tormenting the child, let’s see how the child takes revenge," and "Never let your son ride this elevator alone."

Continued threats and the court's judgment

A's threats were not a one-time occurrence.

Four months after the first threat, in June of that year, she called B again, continuing her intimidation with remarks like, "Next time we meet, it’s a physical fight," "I can’t stay quiet anymore," and "When we meet again, your son will be the one to suffer."

The court noted, "Considering the nature of the threats, it is evident that the severity of the crime is high and the victim likely suffered considerable mental distress from this crime.”

However, the court also stated the reason for the lenient sentence, noting "the defendant has acknowledged her wrongdoing and has repeatedly promised not to commit such acts again."
