‘Harbin’ Tops Box Office… 900,000 Viewers in Opening Weekend

The movie ‘Harbin’ (directed by Woo Min-ho) took the lead at the weekend box office in its opening week. According to the Korea Film Council’s integrated ticket computer network, ‘Harbin’ ranked first at the box office from the 27th to the 29th, attracting 903,872 viewers over three days.

The total cumulative audience is 2,385,436 people. The box office momentum of ‘Harbin’ seems to continue. As of 8 a.m. today, the movie also topped the reservation rate chart. The real-time reservation rate stands at 36.4%, with approximately 130,000 reserved audiences.

There is another record. ‘Harbin’ surpassed 2 million viewers on its fifth day of release, faster than the record set by the domestic megahit ‘Spring of Seoul’ which took six days. This signals a positive outlook for further success.

‘Harbin’ is a film about An Jung-geun, set in 1909, depicting the pursuits and suspicions between those heading to Harbin for a singular purpose and those chasing them.

It stars Hyun Bin and Park Jung-min, among others. Meanwhile, the second-place film at the weekend box office was ‘Firefighter’ (directed by Kwak Kyung-taek), which drew approximately 233,000 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to approximately 3,216,000.

It ranks fifth among Korean films released this year in terms of audience numbers. In third place was ‘Mufasa: Lion King’ with about 120,000 viewers. ‘Moana 2’ ranked fourth with approximately 99,000 viewers, followed by ‘Crayon Shin-chan: The Movie – Our Dinosaur Diary’ with about 98,000 viewers.
