Actresses Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo are set to meet global audiences. Their new film has been invited to the Toronto International Film Festival.
Plus M Entertainment announced on the 22nd that the film "Project Y" (directed by Lee Hwan) has been invited to the Special Presentation section of the 50th Toronto International Film Festival.
"Project Y" is a crime noir genre film. The story revolves around two women, who only have each other, stealing black money and gold bars to escape their grim reality.
Giovanna Fulvi, the lead programmer, shared the reason for the invitation, stating, "The actors' charisma, adrenaline-pumping action, and fierce struggles for survival come together." She further added, "With thrilling tension and emotional resonance, 'Project Y,' centered around a bold plan, is one of the most anticipated Korean films of the year."
The Toronto International Film Festival is one of the four major film festivals in the world and is the largest film event in North America. It has showcased works that possess both popularity and artistic merit.
Last year, several Korean works received invitations as well. "The Law of the Big City" and "Veteran 2" were invited to the same section, while "Harbin" was invited to the Gala Presentation section.
The Special Presentation section introduces new works from world-renowned actors and directors. Films like "Mother," "Parasite," "Decision to Leave," and "The Handmaiden" have been featured in this section.
Meanwhile, this year's Toronto International Film Festival will be held from September 4 to 14 across Toronto.
