Han Duck-soo’s Presidential Bid Concludes in 10 Days… "I Will Support Candidate Kim Moon-soo"
Former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo expressed his acceptance of the failed attempt to replace the presidential candidate of the People Power Party on the 11th. He stated, "I will humbly accept everything and return as an ordinary citizen."
At a press conference held at his camp office in Yeouido, Seoul, at 9:30 AM, Han said, "I take the support and criticism I received before and after my announcement to run for president very seriously," and he expressed gratitude for being given the opportunity to serve the country for a lifetime, despite his shortcomings.

"Wishing Victory for Candidate Kim Moon-soo… I Will Help in Any Way I Can"
Han stated, "I wish for Candidate Kim Moon-soo and his supporters to win in this presidential election," adding, "I will help in any way I can."
The day before, the People Power Party brought forth a proposal to revoke Candidate Kim Moon-soo’s qualifications and replace him with Han in a nationwide ARS vote, but the proposal was rejected as more votes were against it.
He continued, "Now I will put everything down and return as an ordinary citizen. The responsibility for all the decisions I made lies solely with me. I sincerely hope that my beloved Republic of Korea will move forward strongly."

Read Statement and Exit… Quiet Departure Amid Failed Unification
On this day, Han, wearing a pink tie, stood at the podium, read a prepared statement for about 40 seconds, shook hands with each member of the press, and left the camp. There were no additional Q&A sessions.
Han declared his intention to run for president the day after resigning as Acting President and Prime Minister on the 1st. Following discussions on unification, he abruptly joined the People Power Party, but his presidential bid effectively ended ten days later when the vote to replace him was rejected.

The leadership of the People Power Party sought to unify with Han after confirming Candidate Kim Moon-soo, but when the meeting ultimately fell through, Kim’s qualifications were revoked, and Han was urgently admitted to the party. In a vote held from 10 AM to 9 PM the previous day among all party members, the opposition outnumbered the support, allowing Kim to immediately regain his candidacy.
Candidate Kim registered as a presidential candidate at the Central Election Management Committee in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province that morning.
