Han Dong-hoon: "People Power Party Cannot Become an Unconstitutional Party"

Former People Power Party (PPP) leader Han Dong-hoon asserted that "while illegal martial law is a grave mistake, the People Power Party can never become an unconstitutional party."

On the afternoon of the 11th, during the inauguration ceremony of Kim Hwa-jin as the chairperson of the Jeonnam Party Committee held at the Holiday Inn Gwangju Hotel in Gwangju's Seo-gu, Han stated, "During the illegal martial law, a significant number of National Assembly members and assistants from the People Power Party were more actively involved in preventing it compared to the Democratic Party."

However, he did not provide evidence to support his claim, leaving doubts about his statement.

"To Overcome Fear, We Must Restore the Original Spirit of Conservative Politics"

He emphasized, "Conservative politics in South Korea is currently in a state of fear" and "We must return to the true spirit of conservatism and the spirit of the People Power Party to overcome this fear before it grows larger."

He added, "The martial law incident was a difficult time for all of us," noting that "the mistakes of the Democratic Party were significant as well, and some may have made erroneous judgments. However, this is not about blaming or punishing anyone; we need to recognize our past errors and rectify them."

Former leader Han expressed his belief that "if we walk together, it will become a path" and sincerely supported Kim Hwa-jin, the Jeonnam Party Committee, and the residents of Jeonnam.

People Power Party Members Gather… Ahn Cheol-soo Also Delivers a Congratulatory Speech

The inauguration ceremony for Chairperson Kim Hwa-jin was attended by Ahn Cheol-soo, a candidate for the People Power Party leadership election, as well as Ahn Tae-wook, Chairperson of the Gwangju City Party, Yang Hyang-ja, a candidate for the Supreme Council, and key party officials.

Former leader Han and candidate Ahn met at the event, exchanged greetings with a handshake, and Ahn concluded his congratulatory speech without delivering any political messages.
