Han Dong-hoon: “Jokuk is not a pardon but virtually an escape… If innocent, he should request a retrial.”

Han Dong-hoon: "Joo-guk has effectively escaped from prison"

Former representative of the Justice Party, Joo-guk, was released following a special pardon on the Liberation Day, and Han Dong-hoon, former representative of the People Power Party, pointed out that "Mr. Joo-guk has not received a pardon; he has effectively escaped from prison."

On the 18th, former representative Han expressed this stance on his Facebook, stating, "If he is innocent, he should file for retrial."

Thirty minutes later, he posted again on Facebook.

He shared an article titled "Investigation into Joo-guk: Yoon Seok-youl, Han Dong-hoon, and six others have commenced investigation by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials," claiming, "If Mr. Joo-guk's assertion is correct, the target of the Corruption Investigation Office is not Han Dong-hoon, who was demoted four times and faced two searches for the fake news that tracked Yoo Si-min's account, but rather the Republic of Korea's courts that issued guilty verdicts in the first, second, and third trials, sending Mr. Joo-guk to prison."

This appears to be a rebuttal to Joo-guk's recent comments in an interview with Hankyoreh, in which he was asked if he could forgive former President Yoon Seok-youl and former representative Han Dong-hoon, to which he replied, "I cannot forgive the two."

Joo-guk: "Legally concluded, I will seek the people's choice again"

On the same day, former representative Joo-guk appeared on a YouTube broadcast hosted by Kim Eo-jun and stated, "In any case, it is clear that I will seek a choice from the people in June next year."

He also clarified his intention to run, emphasizing, "I must express my opinions to the people, including those who have criticized me, and seek a political choice."

Additionally, he added, "Legally, it has been concluded, and I want to receive a political choice again."

Meanwhile, former representative Joo-guk was serving a prison sentence for charges related to his children’s college admission fraud and the cover-up of the Blue House investigation, but he was pardoned and reinstated through a special pardon on the Liberation Day on the 15th.

With this pardon, Joo-guk has regained his eligibility for election and is now able to run for local elections or the National Assembly by-elections in June next year.
