Han Dong-hoon strongly protests Lee Jun-suk's 'scolding' remarks
Former National Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon criticized Lee Jun-suk, the candidate from the Reform Party, for his comments, stating, "He has insulted our party."
The controversy began with Lee Jun-suk's reaction to the proposal of a 'candidate spouse TV debate' suggested by Kim Yong-tae, the chair of the National Power Party's emergency committee.

On the 20th, Han Dong-hoon expressed his opinion on his social media, saying, "The public hopes that the president's spouse remains very quiet," indicating that Kim Yong-tae's suggestion for a 'candidate spouse TV debate' was inappropriate. However, he subsequently intensified his criticism of Lee Jun-suk's response.
Lee Jun-suk had mentioned regarding Kim's proposal, "If he were in front of me, he would have been scolded severely." To this, Han Dong-hoon strongly countered, "It is extremely inappropriate for a candidate from a public party to speak so openly to the chair of another public party, and it is an insult to the National Power Party."

Lee Jun-suk, who criticized 'old-fashioned politics,' is rather displaying 'old-fashioned' behavior
Han Dong-hoon pointed out that despite Lee Jun-suk's usual claims of wanting to eradicate 'old-fashioned politics,' he is ironically demonstrating such behavior.
He remarked, "I realize anew that old-fashioned behavior and being a 'bossy elder' have nothing to do with age," criticizing Lee Jun-suk for showing 'abuse of power' toward Kim Yong-tae, who was once categorized as part of the 'Lee Jun-suk faction.'

This debate began with discussions on the role and exposure levels of presidential candidates' spouses but appears to be expanding into a manifestation of generational conflicts and differences in leadership styles within the political arena. In particular, the psychological tension between Han Dong-hoon and Lee Jun-suk is garnering attention as it highlights the conflicts between the two politicians who were once in the same party.
Political experts analyze that this debate is a case that goes beyond mere verbal sparring, showcasing the differences in identity and leadership styles of each party. Furthermore, it serves as an example that the definitions of 'old-fashioned politics' and 'new politics' can vary among politicians.
Meanwhile, Kim Yong-tae has yet to provide an official response to this controversy.
Attention is focused on how this debate will unfold and the direction discussions on the role of candidates' spouses in the upcoming presidential election will take.
