YouTuber KwakTube (real name Kwak Jun-bin, 32) is facing a backlash after defending Lee Na-eun. His broadcasts and events have been consecutively canceled.
On the 23rd, the "Peak Time Festival" team announced on their official SNS, "KwakTube's agency has recently notified us that he will not be able to attend the event, considering the situation of both the artist and the organizers."
KwakTube was scheduled to participate in the "2024 Nationwide Youth Festival Peak Time Festival," to be held at the Shinjeongho National Tourist Site Outdoor Music Hall in Asan, Chungnam on the 27th and 28th. It was canceled due to the Lee Na-eun controversy.
The organizing team clarified, "After careful consideration, we have come to understand the situation. We reached an amicable agreement." They added, "We will strengthen on-site safety management and look for a replacement artist for KwakTube."
They also provided a refund notice. "Due to the cancellation of the performance, pre-booked tickets will be fully refunded without any fees. Please contact the secretariat or the ticket booking center for refunds."
KwakTube was embroiled in controversy on the 16th for defending former April member Lee Na-eun in a video. He faced criticism for prematurely forgiving her, as the bullying allegations against her were not yet resolved.
He has apologized twice, but despite making the Lee Na-eun video private, the controversy has not subsided. His schedules have been consecutively canceled. He also did not attend the first recording of MBN's "Jeon Hyun Moo Plan 2," which was recently held.
Similarly, his appearance at the "2024 Busan International Travel Fair – KwakTube Travel Talk Concert" scheduled for the 28th was also canceled. The organizers announced, "It was canceled due to unavoidable circumstances."
