The “Grave Avengers” phenomenon is fierce, maintaining its number one spot at the box office amidst a barrage of new releases.
According to the Korean Film Council’s Integrated Computer Network for Movie Theater Admissions, “Graveyard” (directed by Jang Jae-hyun) attracted 384,610 viewers on the 28th, bringing its total audience to 3,312,980.
It surpassed 3 million viewers in just 7 days, a pace about 3 days quicker than last year’s biggest hit, “Spring in Seoul”. It has also comfortably exceeded its break-even point of 3.3 million viewers.
“Dune Part 2” (directed by Denis Villeneuve), which opened on the same day, started in second place, with 152,958 people watching nationwide. So far, 161,615 people have visited theaters to see it.
Compared to the opening score of the previous film, “Dune” (60,000 people), this represents a 250% increase. Supported by repeat viewings from fans of “Dune”, it is expected to perform strongly at the box office alongside “Graveyard” for a long time.
Meanwhile, “Wonka” dropped to third place with 36,779 viewers, followed by “The Founding War” with 13,902 viewers.
