Actress Kim Hee-sun is heading to New York with six masters of Korean contemporary art. This is part of the 'ATO' exhibition in New York, where she once again takes on the role of director. Kim Hee-sun made her first step as an art content director in September last year. To commemorate her 30th anniversary as an actress, she opened the 'ATO ; Beautiful Gift' exhibition to the public for free. Kim Hee-sun personally visited and gathered the works of Korean contemporary art giants such as Park Seo-bo, Lee Ufan, Park Seok-won, Kim Kang-yong, Kang Hyung-gu, and Lee Lee-nam over a year.
This 'ATO' New York exhibition extends from the Seoul exhibition. Kim Hee-sun said, "I have brought back the world-renowned Korean artists to New York," and added, "I will showcase the charm of Korean contemporary art in the heart of the world's culture."
Park Seo-bo is the undisputed father of 'Dansaekhwa.' Lee Ufan is the founder of Monoha and a giant in contemporary art who has made a mark in art history. Park Seok-won is a stalwart in Korean contemporary abstract sculpture and painting. Kang Hyung-gu is known as the pioneer of fictional realism in portraits, while 'brick painter' Kim Kang-yong symbolizes Korean hyperrealism. Lee Lee-nam is a leading media artist, often referred to as the second Nam June Paik.
"H.art Company" stated, "Last year, 35,000 people visited the 'ATO' exhibition in a short period to appreciate the world of the masters," and added, "We now want to share the wonder of Korean art with the world in New York." 'H.art Company' is an art-entertainment gallery that combines major culture and fine arts in a new way to expand K-content. Kim Hee-sun has transformed into both a director and a docent, taking on the role of promoting the charm of Korean fine arts.
'ATO ; Beautiful Gift in NEW YORK' will be held at 'AP Space' located in Chelsea, New York's cultural district, starting on October 10th. It will be open to New York citizens and art-related individuals until November 23rd. The exhibition has also attracted special attention from foreign media in the United States. Forbes expressed its anticipation for the exhibition, stating, "A special opportunity has opened up to see the works of Korean contemporary art masters in one place." Kim Hee-sun will once again serve as the director, directly introducing the works of the masters on-site in New York. Given the spotlight on this K-art exhibition in New York, companies like Korean Air and Samsung Electronics have also provided their support.
Kim Hee-sun said, "I was healed by visiting the teachers, appreciating their works, and listening to their lives as artists," and added, "I wanted to share those moments with the public." 'H.art Company' stated, "Kim Hee-sun will continue her role as a director, crossing the boundaries between popular culture and fine arts, and will consistently introduce Korean artists and their works."
