JTBC's new drama 'Good Boy' boasts a dazzling cast lineup. On the 31st, it was confirmed that Park Bo-gum, Kim So-hyun, Oh Jung-se, Lee Sang-yi, Heo Sung-tae, and Tae Won-seok will appear in the drama.
'Good Boy' is an action investigative drama. It tells the story of medalists who became police officers through special recruitment, replacing their medals with police badges to fight against a world full of immorality and unfairness.
Director Shim Na-yeon of ‘Beyond Evil’, ‘The Good Bad Mother’, and 'Moments of 18' takes the helm with writer Lee Dae-il, known for ‘Chief of Staff’ and ‘Life on Mars,’ joining forces.
First, Park Bo-gum plays 'Yoon Dong-ju', a constable in the Special Crimes Unit. Dong-ju, who becomes a police officer through the special recruitment of medalists, recklessly throws himself into action for justice without any calculation.
Dong-ju, who originally appeared like a comet and seized a gold medal in boxing, starts his second life as a police officer after stepping down from a pedestal of glory due to a single incident.
Kim So-hyun takes on the role of 'Ji Han-na', a gold medalist in shooting and a corporal in the Special Crimes Unit. She retires suddenly but realizes her dream of becoming a police officer like her father. Now, her gun targets ruthless villains instead of target papers.
Oh Jung-se plays 'Min Ju-young', a diligent and sincere 7th-grade customs officer who even received a commendation from the Commissioner. Although he appears to be a faithful officer, there is another side to him.
In the drama, Ju-young hides his naked ambition with a friendly smile and plain suit during the day. At night, he becomes a relentless shadow of evil that dominates Inseong City.
Lee Sang-yi appears as Sergeant 'Kim Jong-hyun' of the Special Crimes Unit. A former silver medalist in fencing, he becomes a police officer after an injury. He is expected to fully display his brilliant swordsmanship.
Heo Sung-tae plays 'Ko Man-sik', a bronze medalist in wrestling and the team leader of the Special Crimes Unit. Although he lacked stamina and skill compared to others during his career, he persisted and climbed up. His instinct to detect crises is his ultimate survival weapon.
Lastly, Tae Won-seok dons the uniform of Corporal 'Shin Jae-hong', a bronze medalist in discus throwing in the Special Crimes Unit. Despite his large build and intense appearance, he is a caring man with a wife and two sons, joining the special unit solely for his family.
The production team announced, "At the end of 2024, a thrilling and passionate drama that will shatter the frustrating and cold reality will come to the small screen."
They added, "With the best performances from Park Bo-gum, Kim So-hyun, Oh Jung-se, Lee Sang-yi, Heo Sung-tae, and Tae Won-seok, 'Good Boy' will maximize its synergy. We ask for the viewers' great anticipation."
