The soundtrack 'GOLDEN' from the Netflix animated movie 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' has made history on the UK Official Charts.

On February 1 (local time), the UK Official Singles Chart announced that "'GOLDEN' has reached No. 1 on the Singles Chart 'Top 100.' This is the first time a K-Pop song has topped the chart in 13 years."

Martin Talbot, CEO of the Official Charts, expressed his amazement, saying, "The soundtrack of 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' maintained the top spot in the Official Compilation Chart, and with 'GOLDEN,' it has now reached No. 1."

A K-Pop artist has not topped the Official Chart since 2012, when PSY first opened the way for K-Pop with 'Gangnam Style' in the UK.

Talbot remarked, "It has been 13 years since 'Gangnam Style.' This is a moment that serves as another milestone for K-Pop. K-Pop is demonstrating a presence on par with that of Oasis."

The last animated soundtrack to reach No. 1 on the Official Chart was in 2022, with 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' from 'Encanto: The Magical World.'

The song is characterized by its refreshing high notes and strong lyrics. Cover challenges are ongoing from artists like Sea from 'S.E.S,' Lee Jae-ri, Solar, Jung Eun-ji, Bang Min-ah, An Yu-jin, Ailee, Fifty Fifty, and Park Hye-won.

In addition to 'GOLDEN,' two more songs from the OST have made it into the Top 20; 'Your Idol' by the Savage Boys entered the Top 10, while 'Soda Pop' ranked No. 11.

'K-Pop Demon Hunters' is an action fantasy project that combines K-Pop and the occult (exorcism), showcasing Korean elements and unique K-Pop charm.

It has recorded worldwide popularity, becoming the most-watched original animated film released by Netflix. The total viewing time is 220.8 million hours, with a total of 132.4 million views.
