“Gimbap and Fan Appear at Na Kyung-won’s ‘Stay and Eat’ Protest… Kim Seong-tae from the People Power Party Criticizes ‘Lack of Urgency’”

Kim Sung-tae Criticizes Na Kyung-won’s Sit-in: "It Shouldn't Be Like a Book Launch… There's No Desperation"

Former Representative Kim Sung-tae of the People Power Party sharply criticized Representative Na Kyung-won, who is currently staging a sit-in in the National Assembly.

On the 1st, Kim appeared on MBC News Outside and pointed out, "A politician's sit-in should reflect desperation, and it shouldn't be treated like a book launch event."

He added, "A politician's sit-in can involve various methods, like sleeping outdoors or fasting."

Recently, Prime Minister nominee Kim Min-seok asked Na, "You're not fasting, are you?" To which Kim responded, "If you ask that kind of question in such a setting, what kind of picture does it create?" expressing his disappointment.

During the Moon Jae-in administration, Kim engaged in a 'real' hunger strike protest.

"Nationwide Hearing Is Meaningless… They Should Have Even Invited a Farmer as a Witness"

Kim also expressed skepticism about the People Power Party's own 'public hearing' regarding Kim's nomination.

He stated, "Telling people not to appoint someone after the bus has already left won't resonate with the public," and added, "In a real hearing held over two days, they should have invited a farmer witness and asked if investing 200 million won in cabbage farming could yield a monthly profit of 4.5 million won."

He continued, "Hearing such stories would have led the public to think, 'This isn't right,'" and emphasized that the opposition party, the People Power Party, should have sent representatives to Tsinghua University to directly meet with Kim’s advisor to verify whether the thesis process was conducted properly.

However, Kim refrained from commenting on Kim's counter-proposal to disclose his Tsinghua University transcript, seemingly unable to find a flaw in it.

"Pro-Yoon Faction Cannot Trust Han Dong-hoon, Kim Moon-soo, or Ahn Cheol-soo… Concern over Collective Leadership System"

Regarding the People Power Party's national convention, Kim analyzed, "The pro-Yoon faction, which is still tightly knit, believes that it would be difficult to mold figures like Han Dong-hoon, Kim Moon-soo, and Ahn Cheol-soo to their liking," adding, "Since they cannot decide whom to support, they are talking about a collective leadership system."

He explained, "During the past collective leadership system under Representative Kim Moo-sung, lawmakers like Seo Cheong-won, Lee In-jae, and Kim Tae-ho surrounded him, preventing the representative from playing an independent role," noting that ultimately they acted according to former President Park Geun-hye's wishes, which led to a conflict over nominations.

In conclusion, he pointed out, "The People Power Party should have been more forceful in attacking Lee Jae-myung's government's stringent 600 million won loan regulations," emphasizing, "How many citizens are currently losing sleep because they can’t pay their down payments and final payments?"
