Gapyung Heavy Rain Landslide, Family Tragedy While Camping
A tragic incident occurred when a landslide caused by heavy rain in the Gapyung area of Gyeonggi Province hit a family camping. The eldest son, a high school student, has been rescued, but the status of the remaining family members is still unknown.
According to the police and fire authorities on the 21st, a landslide occurred at a campsite located in Maili, Jojeong-myeon, Gapyung-gun, due to heavy rain early the previous morning, engulfing a glamping site.
Among the four family members staying at the campsite, only 17-year-old A was rescued on-site and transported by helicopter. A sustained leg injuries and is reported to be in a state of psychological shock, rendering any investigation into the incident impossible at this time.

Initially, it was presumed that A's family consisted of three members buried in the tent, but later it was confirmed that there were a total of four family members.
A's father, in his 40s, was found dead several kilometers away from the accident site at Daeboryeong. Tragically, A's mother, also in her 40s, and younger brother, a middle school student, are still missing.
The family had come from Yongin to spend a vacation in Gapyung, only to face an unexpected tragedy.

Authorities have deployed about 400 personnel to continue the search operation for missing individuals in the Gapyung area for the second day.
A large-scale search is underway, considering the possibility that the missing individuals are buried under debris or swept away by the swift current. However, they are facing significant difficulties in the search due to the loss of roads, which has hindered the entry of heavy equipment.
In Jojeong-myeon, Gapyung, heavy rain of 76mm per hour fell around 3:30 AM the previous day, with a total accumulated rainfall reaching 200mm, commonly referred to as a "water bomb." As a result of this heavy downpour, four fatalities and four missing persons have been reported in the northern Gyeonggi area, with damage to facilities amounting to a total of 168 cases, including 25 instances of road and bridge damage, 53 landslides, and over 100 instances of flooding in homes.
