70-Year-Old Cheongjeong Mountain Ginseng Discovered in Jirisan, Gyeongnam Province

A number of 70-year-old Cheongjeong mountain ginseng plants have been discovered in Jirisan, Gyeongnam Province.

According to the Korean Traditional Herbal Gatherers Association, a 60-year-old herbalist recently collected 30 roots of Cheongjeong mountain ginseng from the foothills of Jirisan.

As a result of the appraisal, the discovered mountain ginseng has been confirmed to be part of a family group that has existed for over four generations, with the oldest root being 70 years old. The total weight of the roots is 118 grams, and the estimated value has been set at 170 million KRW.

Cheongjeong mountain ginseng refers to ginseng that has naturally germinated from seeds without any human intervention. This is the first time Cheongjeong mountain ginseng has been discovered in the Jirisan area this year.

Jirisan is a representative mountainous region of the Republic of Korea, home to a diverse range of plants and animals.

In particular, Cheongjeong mountain ginseng is valued as a rare natural resource and is traded at high prices due to its value and scarcity. Experts say that the discovery of such mountain ginseng emphasizes the importance of ecosystem preservation.
