Former Army ‘Two-Star’ from President Yoon Suk-yeol’s Office Accused of Sexual Assault on Subordinate

Army Major General Under Investigation for Allegations of Sexual Assault Against Subordinate Staff

A current Army major general, who has worked in key positions at the Combined Forces Command and the Joint Chiefs of Staff and has been employed in the presidential office under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, is under police investigation for allegedly sexually assaulting a subordinate.

On the 20th, the Daejeon Police Agency announced that it is investigating Army Major General A for violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (conducting sexual acts using one's position of power).

The police received a complaint requesting an investigation into Major General A's sexual misconduct early last month. It is reported that the victim claims Major General A sexually assaulted them multiple times several years ago when they were a subordinate.

On the same day, the Chosun Ilbo reported that Major General A is under police investigation on charges of attempted sexual assault against a subordinate and is currently suspended from duty. According to the report, after the victim transferred to a different position, Major General A contacted them again, prompting the victim to file a police report.

Notably, it has been revealed that Major General A continued to attempt to contact the employee even after the police investigation began. Consequently, the court issued a temporary restraining order on the 1st, forbidding Major General A from approaching or contacting the employee.

The police, after completing the victim's interview, have seized and begun analyzing Major General A's mobile phone and will investigate how he learned about the report.

However, a police spokesperson stated, "We plan to determine the extent of the allegations through the suspect's questioning, and we cannot disclose further details as the investigation is ongoing."
