Explosion Hoax at Fast Food Restaurant After Delay in Delivery
A bomb threat that led to the evacuation of over 400 customers at a fast food restaurant in Suwon was revealed to be a 'false flag' orchestrated by a delivery driver who held a grudge over complaints about delayed deliveries.
On the 18th, the Suwon Yeongtong Police announced the emergency arrest of a man in his 20s, referred to as A, on charges of obstruction of official duties by deception and interference with business.
At around 1:07 PM on the 17th, A posted on SNS about a fast food restaurant in Suwon's Yeongtong District, stating, "The delivery is late and the staff are unfriendly. I will install explosives." He is accused of subsequently reporting the post to the police as if he had discovered it by chance.
Earlier, on the 17th, a police special operations unit was dispatched in response to a report of a bomb threat at this fast food restaurant in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, which caused quite a commotion.
Mass Evacuation… Over 400 People Experienced Inconvenience
An investigation revealed that A had been delivering orders for the restaurant and, after receiving a remark from store staff regarding the delays, he became resentful and committed this crime.
Following A's report, the police special operations unit was deployed, conducting bomb detection operations inside the fast food restaurant for about 1 hour and 40 minutes.
The building in question is a mixed-use structure with 9 floors above ground and 3 floors underground, housing various facilities including a hospital and educational institutes. During the search, approximately 400 people, including patients and students, were urgently evacuated from the building.
The police conducted a swift investigation, tracing the SNS post's ID information and apprehending A around 4 PM on the same day, just three hours after the incident.
The Suwon Yeongtong Police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for A after completing their investigation and are also considering charges of public intimidation.
