Former Spokesperson of People Power Party Receives Suspension for Preschool Subsidy Fraud

A former spokesperson for the People Power Party has been sued for sexual exploitation and distribution of illegal footage involving his wife, and it has been confirmed that he has received a suspension for operating a preschool due to misconduct, including the fraudulent use of subsidies.

According to a report by Newsis on the 4th, Sejong City imposed a three-month suspension of the director's qualifications and operation on the preschool run by B, the mother of the spokesperson A, around the end of May.

The city also ordered the return of the illegally used subsidies. They stated that they plan to request an investigation by law enforcement if any additional suspicious circumstances are discovered after a thorough examination of the preschool's financial statements.

Court Rejects Suspension Lawsuit… Operation Halted for Three Months Starting Next Month

B, who received the suspension, filed a lawsuit against the mayor of Sejong City at the Daejeon District Court to cancel the business suspension and for a suspension of execution. However, the Daejeon District Court dismissed B's suspension lawsuit on the 14th of last month and notified the city of the outcome.

With the dismissal of the suspension lawsuit, B's qualifications as the director and the operation of the preschool will be suspended for three months starting from the 1st of next month.

Additionally, the city has found evidence that B did not inform parents that the building housing the preschool had gone to auction as of December 5, 2023, and is conducting further investigations.

The maximum capacity of the preschool was over 60 children, but now only two remain, and they are expected to be relocated to other facilities soon.

Family-centered Operation System… The Former Spokesperson as the Actual Operator

It has been revealed that although B was the director, the actual operations were handled by A.

When issues arose at the preschool, it was A, not B, who conducted the meetings. A's father served as the chairman, and A's wife took on the role of administrative director, establishing a family-centered operation system.

A city official explained, "There are issues related to overdue wages, including teachers' severance pay, which are also being investigated."

Meanwhile, A's wife filed a police report against A for the unauthorized distribution of footage, including images of her body.

Shortly after, A expressed his intention to resign from his party position in the Daejeon City Party of the People Power Party, stating, "My wife's claims are completely false, and our children are aware of this," asserting that he would cooperate fully with the investigation and take legal action against the dissemination of false information.
