According to industry sources on the 12th, the Webtoon Illegal Distribution Response Council (Web Daehyup) submitted a petition to the Daejeon District Court against Mr. A, the operator of 'Okaytoon,' on the 5th, who is also the operator of 'Nunu TV.'

This initiative aims to strongly demand a strict sentence for Mr. A ahead of the third trial of the 'Okaytoon' operator scheduled for the 20th at the Daejeon District Court.

Seven major webtoon companies belonging to Web Daehyup, including Naver Webtoon, Lezhin Entertainment, Ridibooks, Toptoon, Tumix, Kakao Entertainment, and Kidari Studio, are calling for the strict punishment.

According to Web Daehyup, 'Okaytoon' has violated the copyrights of a total of 10,000 webtoons and 800,000 episodes.

As a result, the webtoon industry estimates a financial loss of up to 49.4 billion won.

Web Daehyup stated that Mr. A established 'Okaytoon' and 'TV Wiki' immediately after the shutdown of 'Nunu TV' in 2023, emphasizing that "if Mr. A receives a lenient sentence, 'the second Nunu TV' and 'the third Okaytoon' can endlessly emerge. The operator must receive the maximum legal penalty corresponding to the financial damage."

The operator of Okaytoon also ran the largest illegal streaming site 'Nunu TV'.
