Former Leisure Establishment Manager Who Threatened Late Lee Sun-kyun Released on Bail
It has been confirmed that a manager of a leisure establishment, who was on trial for extorting a large sum of money by threatening the late actor Lee Sun-kyun, has been released on bail.
According to Newsis and other sources on the 4th, the Incheon District Court's Criminal Appeal Division 3 (Presiding Judge Choi Sung-bae) made a bail decision ex officio for A (31), a female manager of a leisure establishment who was arrested and indicted on charges of extortion on the 26th of last month.

It is reported that the court decided on conditional bail instead of simple release, in light of A's impending release date due to the expiration of her detention period.
If released upon expiration of detention, there are no restrictions or limitations, but if released on bail, specific conditions set by the court must be adhered to.
Charges of Extorting 300 Million Won and First Judgment
A is accused of extorting 300 million won from Lee Sun-kyun in September 2023 by claiming that she was being threatened by a hacker whose identity was unknown.
In December of last year, A was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison in the first trial. Following this, in May of this year, A’s detention period was extended for the third time. This was the last renewal of her detention period during the appeal trial.

According to Article 92 of the Criminal Procedure Act, the detention period of a defendant by the court is 2 months, and during the appeal and cassation phases, the detention period can be renewed up to a maximum of three times in 2-month increments.
A, who was released on bail, is scheduled to appear in court at the Incheon District Court on the 16th to receive the ruling for her appeal while remaining at liberty.
On the same day, the appeal ruling for B (30), a female actor who was arrested and indicted for extorting 50 million won by threatening Lee Sun-kyun for 100 million won (extortion, attempted extortion), will also take place.
