Honest Elementary School Student's Kind Deed Touches the Community
An elementary school student in Paju, who discovered a check worth 90 million KRW and returned it to its owner, has moved the community with this heartwarming act.
The student in question is Kim Ji-yoo, the daughter of Lee In-ae, a member of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly (People Power Party, Goyang 2). On May 30, she received a commendation from Jeong Deok-jin, the chief of the Paju Police Station, becoming a role model in the community.
Kim discovered the check while taking a walk with her teacher near Wisdom Global School in Paju on May 12.
Kim immediately informed her teacher about the discovery, and the two promptly visited a nearby police station to report the found item.
The police who were dispatched recovered the check and began the search for its owner. After a swift search, they confirmed that the owner was the representative of a nearby publishing company.
A Beautiful Cycle of Kindness Initiated by a Good Deed
The publishing company representative expressed deep gratitude for Kim's honest behavior and donated books to her school as a token of appreciation. This act is regarded as a beautiful cycle of kindness, where one child's good deed leads to another.
The Paju Police decided to award Kim for her exemplary civic spirit.
Chief Jeong stated, "The act of Kim Ji-yoo returning the lost check to its owner is truly beautiful," and encouraged her to grow into a remarkable individual who will lead the future of the Republic of Korea.
Regarding her daughter's good deed, Lee In-ae displayed a calm reaction, saying, "She just did what she should have done."
She praised her daughter's honesty by saying, "I believe it was a really good action," while also expressing her educational philosophy that such behavior should be viewed as natural, rather than extraordinary.
