Strange Mistakes at the National Qualification Exam Site
Last weekend, examinees who visited the national qualification exam site to open the door to employment faced unexpected challenges.
In the sweltering heat exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, the failure of the air conditioning resulted in a stifling exam room, and the misdistribution of answer sheets revealed the poor management of the national qualification exam.

According to a report by TV Chosun on the 28th, Mr. Park Gun-ho, who took the logistics management written exam on the 26th, had to take the test in an exam room where the air conditioning was not functioning properly in temperatures well over 30 degrees.
Including Mr. Park, 16 examinees conducted their exam for about an hour in the stifling classroom before moving to a different room during the break.
But that was not all. There were also issues during the distribution of answer sheets.

A staggering 377 examinees were given answer sheets that did not match the exam questions. The test was multiple-choice with five options, but the answer sheets were only marked up to option four.
This caused significant confusion among the candidates, and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea only replaced the answer sheets after receiving complaints from the examinees.
One affected examinee explained the situation to TV Chosun, saying, "About 20 minutes after taking the test, the headquarters informed us that they had the correct sheets and that we received the new ones."

Recurring Management Issues
The Human Resources Development Service of Korea's poor management of the national qualification exam is not the first instance. Two years ago, in May 2023, the agency had to shred unscored answer sheets.
At that time, the Chairman of the Human Resources Development Service, Eo Soo-bong, apologized, saying, "We will take this as an opportunity to solidify our trust and ensure that we become a reliable agency."
The Human Resources Development Service expressed regret over the current situation, saying, "We apologize for the inconvenience caused to the examinees," and stated, "We will thoroughly prepare for exams to prevent future issues."
The national qualification exam is a critical gateway for many job seekers. During the preparation process, examinees invest significant time, effort, and costs.
In such circumstances, the poor management of the exam can be viewed as disregarding the efforts of the examinees.
Institutions responsible for the national qualification exam should use this incident as a catalyst to thoroughly review their exam management systems and ensure that examinees can take their tests in a fair and comfortable environment.
