Former President Yoon Seok-youl Sends Second Message to Supporters

Yoon Seok-youl, who was removed from office by unanimous decision of the Constitutional Court, expressed his gratitude to his supporters, stating, "I will always stay by your side."

On the 6th, former President Yoon conveyed a message to the 'National Defense Attorney Group,' which had taken the lead in opposing his impeachment, through his legal team.

On this day, former President Yoon said, "I have stepped down from the presidency, but I will always stay by your side," and added, "Let's stay strong!" He continued, "I have seen the fight for the preservation of freedom and sovereignty across the nation, including Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, and Daejeon. I have also heard the cries of young students in the streets and schools."

Former President Yoon expressed his deep gratitude for the support and encouragement of the people, saying, "I am sorry and saddened. The journey you have taken to defend freedom and sovereignty in the face of a grave national crisis will be recorded in the great history of the Republic of Korea."

He added, "Even if today's reality is difficult, do not be discouraged. Have confidence and courage. As long as you young people do not lose courage, our future will be bright."

Earlier, after the Constitutional Court's decision to uphold his impeachment on the 4th, former President Yoon expressed gratitude and apologies to his supporters, stating, "It was an honor to be able to work for the Republic of Korea."

Meanwhile, former President Yoon was impeached by the National Assembly for violating the Constitution and laws during the process of preparing and declaring a state of emergency on December 3 of last year.

The Constitutional Court began its first hearing on January 9 and conducted a total of 11 public hearings over approximately three months.

Subsequently, at 11:22 AM on the 4th, 123 days after the declaration of the state of emergency, 111 days after the impeachment motion was received, and 31 days after the final argument, former President Yoon was removed from office by unanimous decision of all Constitutional Court justices.

Following the impeachment of former President Yoon, a new presidential election must be held within 60 days according to the Constitution.
