Director Jang Jae-hyun watched the film 'The Black Nuns'. He is a director representing K-occult. He debuted with 'The Priests' (2015) and has created hits such as 'Svaha: The Sixth Finger' and 'The Pre-release'. On the 26th, Jang attended a special guest viewing of 'The Black Nuns' at Lotte Cinema World Tower, alongside Song Hye-kyo, Jeon Yeo-bin, Director Kwon Hyuk-jae, and Music Director Kim Tae-sung.
Director Jang Jae-hyun shared, "I was so nervous watching the film as though I had shot it myself. It was only after watching it again a few days ago that I could truly appreciate it." 'The Black Nuns' is a spin-off of 'The Priests'. Jang remarked, "It carried a lot of the DNA of 'The Priests', which was very welcome. It was deeply significant, and I'm grateful to the actors and director."
Jang also picked his favorite scenes, saying, "The scene where the two small nuns await a foreign priest and the one where they are together at an ice cream shop were really great." He continued, "It felt like seeing real nuns in their daily lives, showcasing two small yet incredibly strong women."
In a scene with Unia (played by Song Hye-kyo), he highlighted a moment where a character curses at Kim Bum-shin. Jang also liked a scene where Michaela (played by Jeon Yeo-bin) eats tanghulu, among other things. "There were quite a few scenes that seemed small yet conveyed strength," he praised. "They felt like gems."

Song Hye-kyo portrayed Unia, a nun breaking taboos, leading the story. She reflected, "I started by thinking why Unia made such a brave choice to save the child. Could I do the same?" Jeon Yeo-bin mentioned the scenes that Director Jang highlighted, where the two nuns appear together. "It seemed like a scene showing the power to step forward from the darkness," she conveyed.
Director Kwon Hyuk-jae praised the actors, saying, "With Song Hye-kyo and Jeon Yeo-bin as Unia and Michaela, the film became much richer." Music Director Kim Tae-sung participated in 'The Black Nuns' after 'The Priests'. He commented, "The most important thing while working on 'The Black Nuns' was how to carry over the worldview from 'The Priests'."
In the end credits, Michaela's prayer is featured. Kim hinted, "If you listen closely, you can hear the voice of Kang Dong-won and Kim Yoon-seok's background chorus." 'The Black Nuns' is being cherished as a unique occult film. Unlike priests, the nuns conduct exorcisms by any means necessary, incorporating Korean shamanism and tarot cards, providing a fresh experience.

'The Black Nuns' premiered on the 24th and is available to watch in theaters.
