The Office of Digital Communication at the Presidential Office announced on the 12th, "This month, we will officially unveil and distribute the digital souvenir 'Presidential Digital Goods' created in collaboration with the public." The digital goods to be unveiled will visually incorporate the presidential emblem and signature and will be provided as official digital content, distinguishing it from unofficial images.

Birth of the Digital Communication Platform from Public Requests

The production of this digital good was sparked by numerous requests received via social media, stating, "We would like to use the presidential watch as well."

The Office of Digital Communication explained that they have planned the digital goods as a symbol of open governance.

Kim Nam-guk, the Digital Communication Secretary at the Presidential Office, stated, "The digital goods are not merely souvenirs; they are a sensory communication platform that allows the public to participate and connect with governance." He further explained, "In an era where popular sovereignty is manifested in our hands through digital technology, we aimed to incorporate this symbol into the daily lives of the citizens."

Citizens will be able to download these items for free through President Lee Jae-myung's official Facebook, Instagram, and other social media channels, and they will later also be available for use on the Presidential Office's website.

Clarification on the Controversy over the Presidential Watch Production

Meanwhile, President Lee Jae-myung recently expressed his stance regarding the controversy over the production of the presidential watch.

On the 11th, he explained, "After listening to various proposals, I judged that a gift that encompasses both significance and practicality would be appropriate, so I instructed the production of a cost-effective presidential watch."

President Lee shared, "Recently, during a dinner with the Democratic Party leadership, the topic of a watch gift naturally came up, and I asked if it was 'really necessary.'" He added, "Consequently, many people expressed their regrets, and it was suggested that among the presidential gifts, a watch has the best cost-effectiveness."

He emphasized, "As it represents the symbolic essence of South Korea, we will prepare it carefully to be a gift that everyone can be proud of. You can look forward to it."

The Presidential Office plans to develop a dedicated application for easier and more convenient access to digital goods, expanding it as a public communication platform.
