Democratic Party releases Kim Moon-soo’s ‘book of absurd remarks’… “It’s difficult to list every instance of misogyny and historical distortion.”

Democratic Party harshly criticizes Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, saying "it's hard to list all the outrageous statements"

The Democratic Party of Korea has launched severe criticism against Kim Moon-soo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party.

On the 11th, the Democratic Party unveiled a compilation of Kim’s past remarks, labeling it a 'catalog of outrageous statements' and stated, "It's difficult to list the misogynistic remarks, mockery of the vulnerable, distortion of history, blatant discriminatory remarks, and the countless instances of abuse of power."

Kang Deuk-gu, the head of the Democratic Party's rapid response team, criticized Kim during a briefing at the party's headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, stating, "They staged a coup farce by swiftly admitting Han Duck-soo and registering him as a candidate in the middle of the night, and now they have even brought back the anachronistic figure Kim Moon-soo. No comedy can surpass this level," he criticized.

Controversy over Kim Moon-soo’s past remarks raises "doubt about qualifications as a presidential candidate."

Vice Secretary Jeong Joon-ho pointed out specific problematic remarks made by Kim.

"Kim used a cheap sexual metaphor to refer to girl groups as 'tall and busty' during a public lecture, and continued to make outrageous statements like 'During the Japanese colonial period, Korea's nationality was Japanese' and 'Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon is a figure who defends democracy in Korea'," he criticized.

Vice Secretary Jeong further emphasized, "He has revealed himself to be an extreme and dangerous individual, casting doubt not only on his qualifications as a presidential candidate but also as a politician."

Particularly, Vice Secretary Park Kwan-cheon highlighted that there were concerns raised about Kim within the People Power Party itself.

"There was even a case where the People Power Party itself filed a court petition for the cancellation of Kim's qualifications as a presidential candidate," he stated, adding, "The People Power Party has admitted there are fatal disqualifications for him to be a candidate, so I cannot help but question their motives for presenting him as a candidate again."

Kim Moon-soo has previously sparked controversy with multiple remarks.

Kim Moon-soo has served as the Mayor of Seoul and the Governor of Gyeonggi Province, and has been a prominent figure in the conservative camp. However, he has faced criticism both inside and outside the political arena due to several controversial statements.

In particular, his remarks related to women, minorities, and historical awareness have been problematic. The Democratic Party’s release of the 'catalog of outrageous statements' appears to be an attempt to intensify the controversy over Kim’s qualifications ahead of the presidential election.
