Previously, the Hamji Mountain wildfire, which first broke out at 2:02 PM on the 28th of last month in the Nogok-dong area of North Daegu, was contained within about 23 hours. However, it reignited again at 7:31 PM on the 29th near the 7th ridge of Baengnyeonsa Temple.

Afterward, the fire spread to five areas in the north and east, coming close to residential areas, and led to the emergency evacuation of over 200 residents in Seobyeondong at around 5:13 PM on the 30th.

The Korea Forest Service and the firefighting authorities focused on protecting residential areas by establishing fire lines and deployed 656 personnel and 33 equipment for overnight firefighting operations.

The area affected by the wildfire was assessed at a total of 310 hectares, which is 50 hectares larger than the area during the initial fire containment. The Korea Forest Service reported that the forecasted 5-10mm of rain from noon on that day would help with the mop-up efforts.

A Korea Forest Service official stated, "We have confirmed that the reignited wildfire has been completely extinguished, and we have now switched to a rear fire monitoring system."
