Cube Entertainment has released an official statement regarding Soyeon's so-called 'contract termination performance.' They clarified that the performance was pre-arranged with the agency and that certain reports are inaccurate.
On the 7th, Cube Entertainment stated, "Some media reports about Soyeon's solo song 'Is This Bad B***** Number?' performance are not true."
Regarding reports that claimed the performance was an unexpected act by Jeon Soyeon, the agency explained, "We have not delivered any official stance regarding this," adding, "An individual's opinion has spread as if it were the official position."
The agency confirmed that they were aware of the stage performance and lyrics in advance. They expressed, "We apologize for causing concern to those who love (G)I-DLE."
They also mentioned the group's contract renewal, stating, "The mentioned period (November) is indeed the contract termination point," and added, "Currently, we are amicably discussing the contract renewal."
(G)I-DLE held their '2024 GIDLE World Tour [I-DLE] in Seoul' concert at KSPO Dome (formerly Olympic Gymnastics Arena) on November 3-4.
During her solo stage on the 3rd, Soyeon rapped, "Contract ends in November, who can stop me?" Although she concluded the performance with "We will do this forever," concerns over contract renewal failures spread.
Subsequent reports even suggested discord within the group. One media outlet reported remarks from a Cube official stating, "Jeon Soyeon's performance was an unexpected act with no prior consultation."
As the controversy continued, Jeon Soyeon also stepped forward to address the situation. On the 6th, she explained, "I don't harbor negative feelings towards the company just from reading the articles. Even small miscommunications can change the intent of the message."
