Mapo-gu Launches 'Summer Water Play with Parents' Program to Beat the Heat

Mapo-gu, Seoul has prepared a water play program to refresh residents from the summer heat.

On the 3rd, Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Kang-soo) announced that it will operate the '2025 Summer Water Play with Parents' program from the 26th to August 17th at six locations within the district.

This water play program will take place across six sites in Mapo-gu, including the Mapo Citizens Plaza in front of the district office, Red Road Power Plant, Mapo Saebit Cultural Forest, Yanghwa Children's Park, Tojeong Park, and Gyeongui Line Forest Park.

At each water play venue, various facilities such as inflatable swimming pools and water slides will be installed for children to enjoy. Additionally, shades for protection from the hot sun and changing facilities will also be provided.

In addition to water play facilities, a variety of experience programs such as water gun games and VR experience trucks will be available to make it even more enjoyable for children. Food trucks will also operate, offering snacks.

A Mapo-gu official stated, "We plan to assign safety personnel at the water play areas to ensure accident prevention."

This program is targeted at elementary school students and younger children residing in Mapo-gu, with children under 7 allowed entry if accompanied by a guardian.

The operating hours are from 10 AM to 5 PM, with a brief pause from 1 PM to 2 PM for facility inspections. Notably, there is no usage fee, allowing anyone to participate without financial burden.

Meanwhile, a special water play area for pets will open on the 9th of next month at the Mapo Pet Camping Site, which is anticipated to be a unique space where both pets and their owners can enjoy together.

Mayor Park Kang-soo of Mapo-gu expressed, "I hope that during this hot summer, residents can create cool memories at the nearby water play areas," and added, "We will prepare thoroughly to ensure that children can enjoy water play safely."
