Pizza Place Followed by Noodles Restaurant Setting 'Forced Tip' on Delivery Application
As a pizza place that forced additional charges as a required option has been embroiled in the 'forced tip' controversy, a noodles restaurant demanding additional charges using the same method has also been caught, facing backlash from netizens.
On the 24th, a post titled "How to Order Only Soy Sauce at a Noodles Restaurant" appeared in an online community.
According to a screenshot of the delivery application shared by the poster, Mr. A, the noodles restaurant in question set 'Noodles Please (+2000 KRW)' and 'I will only eat soy sauce (not for sale)' as 'mandatory' options.

The requirement that if a customer selects the option without additional charge, the order would be canceled essentially forces an extra charge of 2000 KRW. This situation brings to mind the earlier controversy surrounding the 'forced tip' at a pizza place.
The 'forced tip' controversy began when a netizen shared that a pizza place listed on the delivery application was set up in such a way that if the '2000 KRW' option was not selected, the order would be invalidated.
As a result, other netizens began to speculate that the owner of the noodles restaurant with the 'additional charge trick' might be the same person as the owner of the pizza place involved in the earlier controversy.

The basis for this suspicion was that both establishments listed on the delivery application shared the same address.
They reacted by saying, "This is truly a scary story," "It's indeed best to avoid places that do all sorts of delivery," "At this point, it seems like they don’t want to do business, and are being forced by someone," and "Unless there's a bet on who goes bankrupt first, I can't understand the situation."
Meanwhile, according to the current Food Sanitation Act, demanding separate service charges on the menu is considered 'illegal,' and menus must display the 'final price' including value-added tax and service charges.
