Daegu Catholic University Hospital Officially Apologizes for Newborn Abuse Controversy
Daegu Catholic University Hospital has officially apologized for the recent controversy surrounding the abuse of newborns in the intensive care unit.
On the 5th, the hospital posted an apology video on its official YouTube channel, expressing its stance on the incident.
In the video, President Kim Yoon-young stated, "I sincerely apologize for the concerns caused to many due to the inappropriate actions of a nurse in our neonatal intensive care unit," adding, "In particular, I deeply apologize to the parents who entrusted us with their precious children and have been shocked and hurt."

The hospital confirmed that the nurse had posted inappropriate phrases along with pictures of newborns on her social media account.
President Kim emphasized, "All members of the hospital feel a deep sense of responsibility," and stated, "Such behavior cannot be justified under any circumstances."
The incident reportedly sparked outrage when a nurse who worked in the neonatal intensive care unit posted a photo on her social media of an ICU patient sitting on her lap or being hugged, along with phrases like "I want to drop" (meaning to want to drop the patient).
The father of the victimized child reported the nurse and the university hospital director to the police, and an investigation is currently underway.

Even more shocking is the claim made by the victim's father in a recent interview with Yonhap News Agency that "at least five more children have been abused, and three more nurses were involved."
President Kim stated, "We have immediately removed the nurse from her duties and decided on severe disciplinary action," and added, "We are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigations from the police and health authorities."
He further promised, "I deeply understand the shock and hurt felt by the parents and the public, and I will do my utmost to resolve this matter."
