Controversy Over 'Failure to Clean Up' After Dog's Waste Leads to Apology Letter from Parents
As complaints poured in from residents of an apartment complex due to a child not cleaning up after their dog, the apology letter left by the parents has sparked controversy.
On the 12th, multiple online communities shared the contents of an apology letter posted in an apartment building. According to the shared letter, the child's parents acknowledged that their child, while taking the dog for a walk, did not clean up the dog's waste in front of the elevator.
The parents expressed, "We sincerely apologize to the many residents who use the elevator for causing discomfort," adding, "The biggest fault lies with us as parents for failing to educate our child on basic etiquette in a shared living environment."

According to the parents, they became aware through the management office that their child had allowed the dog to relieve itself in front of the elevator.
In the apology letter, the parents explained that they have re-educated their children on taking waste bags during walks, cleaning up immediately, holding the dog in their arms while using the elevator, and keeping the leash short during walks. They also mentioned that they instructed the child, who was directly involved in the incident, to write the apology letter.

While it was a seemingly perfect 'apology letter,' there was a separate issue. Toward the end of the letter, the parents stated, "If the dog barks at or threatens a person, it is permissible to kick it," and added, "Our dog is a white Pomfret. This is a place where people live, and people are the priority."
When internet users encountered the apology letter, reactions included comments such as, "Why include the part about kicking? They should just take responsibility for the child's mistake," "Isn't it a mistake to let a young child walk the dog alone? I recommend not letting them walk it by themselves," and "Everything is fine, but what do you mean by saying it's okay to kick the dog?" expressing critical opinions, especially regarding the statement about being allowed to kick the dog.
