"Dirty whore" struck while filming

A scene where a Korean woman was subjected to racial discrimination and physical threats during a live broadcast in the southern French city of Toulouse has sparked controversy locally.

Local media such as 3 Occitanie and BFM TV reported on the 10th (local time) that Korean creator JinnyT, who is active on the streaming platform Twitch, suffered racial discrimination during a live broadcast in Toulouse on the 7th. JinnyT is a global travel content streamer with over one million subscribers.

The released video shows JinnyT filming herself with a portable camera on the streets of France when she hears insulting remarks from a French man riding a scooter. He shouted, "What are you filming? Dirty Chinese woman. Get lost, you dirty whore," before striking JinnyT's camera and leaving.

Viewers who witnessed the situation through the broadcast could not hide their shock, and JinnyT expressed her bewilderment, stating, "That man is not a thief. He was crazy. I was just filming my face. I didn't even film him. Isn't this a public place?"

When viewers urged her to "report it" and "run away," JinnyT replied, "I don't think I would get help even if I report it to the police," expressing her intention to move on without further action. However, the broadcast video quickly spread on social media, prompting some viewers to call for the punishment of the man from local police and authorities.

Toulouse Deputy Mayor: "We must put an end to such injustices"

As the incident gained public attention, the Toulouse city authorities also issued a statement. Emilian Esno, the deputy mayor of Toulouse, expressed full support for JinnyT, stating, "We must put an end to such unjust and unacceptable behavior."

Local media reported that the identity of the man in question has not yet been identified, while discussions are underway regarding the possibility of prosecution and measures to protect tourists.

Meanwhile, JinnyT had previously experienced theft of her phone during a broadcast in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in January 2023, at which time the thief was caught with the help of nearby citizens.
