A cargo truck collided with the central median on the Jungbu Expressway.

As a result of this accident, a large quantity of carrots being transported fell onto the road, leading to a chain reaction incident.

According to police and other sources on the 28th, around 3:44 PM, a 12-ton cargo truck traveling towards Yangpyeong on the Jungbu Inland Expressway in Yeonpung-ri, Geisan-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, crashed into the central median.

Due to the impact, approximately 7 tons of carrots that were loaded onto the cargo truck spilled onto the opposite lane toward Changwon.

The pile of carrots on the road caused a secondary accident involving a 1-ton truck and an SUV. Additionally, two passenger cars were directly struck by the flying carrots, resulting in damage to the vehicles.

Directly hit by flying carrots, vehicles were damaged.

Cause of the Accident and Cleanup Situation

The driver of the cargo truck in his 40s sustained injuries and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital. During the process of handling the accident, one lane of the two lanes on the highway towards Changwon was closed, affecting traffic flow.

The police believe that the accident began when the left front tire of the wing-body cargo truck burst while driving, and they are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
