Car Driven by Woman in Her 60s Crashes into Pharmacy… “70-Year-Old Pharmacist Dead”

An incident occurred in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, where an SUV driven by a woman in her 60s crashed through the glass window of a pharmacy, resulting in the tragic death of a pharmacist.

Around 3:30 PM on the 8th, a Sorento vehicle driven by a 60s woman, referred to as A, crashed into the first-floor pharmacy of a commercial building in Bongdam-eup, Hwaseong. The vehicle penetrated the front glass, smashed through the display shelves of medication, and only came to a stop deep inside the building.

As a result of the accident, B, a pharmacist in his 70s who was inside the pharmacy, was critically injured and transported to the hospital in a state of cardiac arrest but ultimately passed away. B's wife was also present in the pharmacy at the time, but no further casualties occurred.

Attempting to park head-in resulted in the accident

According to police investigations, A attempted to park head-in in a roadside parking area in front of the building in order to use the pharmacy, but she ended up crashing forward.

The scene investigation revealed no signs of violations such as driving under the influence or drug use on A's part.

The police believe that A caused the accident due to a lack of driving skill, and they are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

Authorities plan to charge A with relevant offenses. A police official stated, "We are comprehensively analyzing vehicle black box footage and witness testimonies to accurately determine the cause of the accident."
