Actor Byun Jin-soo will stage the play 'My Mister.' The drama 'My Mister' is being reborn as a theater production. It will be performed at the LG Arts Center Seoul U+ Stage from August 22 to September 27, promising an emotional story.
Byun Jin-soo will play the role of 'Park Gi-hoon.' He is the younger brother of the main character Park Dong-hoon (played by Lee Dong-ha and Park Eun-seok), and the youngest of three brothers. He is a failed film director who is currently working as a cleaner.
On the 12th, Byun Jin-soo expressed his aspirations in an interview, saying, "It’s both burdensome and exciting to act in a life drama on stage. I will value each scene and act diligently."
Byun Jin-soo made his debut in 2015 with 'Socialphobia.' He has appeared in films such as 'Battles Without Honor,' 'Concrete Utopia,' 'Rebound,' 'Woong-nam,' 'Life is Beautiful,' 'Emergency Declaration,' 'Alien+Human,' 'Money,' and 'The Day of the National Bankruptcy.' He has also showcased his talents in dramas like 'Gangnam Byside,' 'D.P.2,' 'Kingdom 2,' and 'The King.' Recently, he took on the role of 'Medvedenko' in the play 'The Seagull,' receiving positive feedback from audiences for invigorating the stage.
'My Mister' is a play based on the drama of the same name. It tells the story of 'Lee Ji-an,' a cynical 21st-century contract employee, and 'Park Dong-hoon,' who quietly endures life. The original featured the late Lee Seon-kyun and IU (real name Lee Ji-eun). In 2019, it won the Best Drama and Best Screenplay awards at the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards, recognizing its artistic value.
Directed by Kim Jae-yeop, who has won the Dong-A Theatre Award for Best Play and Best Script, this production showcases a work imbued with the lingering emotions of the drama. It has completed the production with a different charm from the original.
The roles of Park Dong-hoon are cast with Lee Dong-ha and Park Eun-seok. Lee Ji-an will be represented by Kim Hyun-soo and Hong Ye-ji, respectively. Various actors, including Lee Kyu-han, Yoon Sun-woo, Oh Yeon-ah, and Jang Hee-jin, will also participate.
A spinoff of 'My Mister' is also in the works. A representative from T2N Media previously announced, "We plan to present the play 'Jeong-hee' in the first half of next year, which is also based on the original story."
