“Businessman Who Gave Vacheron Watch: ‘Yoon Suk-yeol Doesn’t Even Dream of Presidential Election… He Was Trying to Run for Mayor of Seoul’”

On the 14th, in an appearance on CBS's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show', former Chairman Seo revealed that Yoon initially aimed for the position of Seoul mayor rather than the presidency.

Seo stated, "He was someone who wanted to run for Seoul mayor at first. Yoon-tong (Yoon Seok-yeol). He was a mayor for about two terms, but I was the one who deterred that." This suggests that Yoon Seok-yeol's early political ambition, after resigning as Prosecutor General in March 2021, was to become the mayor of Seoul rather than the president.

New Testimony Regarding His Presidential Candidacy Background

Seo claimed that even while contemplating whether to run for president and the issue of joining a political party after stepping down from his prosecutor role, Yoon said, "I was thinking of running for Seoul mayor back then. I never even dreamed of the presidency." He continued to explain that he encouraged Yoon to run for president.

"It's not like I made him do it, but I did say, 'That's not going to work since you don't have luck for that. You might have luck for the presidential election, so if you want to run then, go ahead,'" he elaborated. However, Seo expressed that after Yoon was elected, he no longer listened to his advice.

Seo revealed, "After he became president, he didn't listen to anything at all. So, I felt at that time, 'Watching on TV, I see people like Geun-jin Beopsa… Ah, he's listening to those kinds of people now,' and 'Thinking about how now I've been abandoned since he's listening to those people.'"
