A documentary film about the BTS fandom is coming out. The film "FOREVER WE ARE YOUNG" will have its world premiere on the 11th (Korean time) at the 'South by Southwest Film Festival 2025' in the United States.
"FOREVER WE ARE YOUNG" centers around the fandom, Army. It has been selected for the festival's "24 Beats Per Second" section and will be screened as part of the world premiere.
It took about three years to complete. The documentary crew traveled around the world, including Seoul, Los Angeles, Texas, and Mexico City, to meet and interview fans directly.
Patty An, one of the co-directors and a professor at the University of California, explained, "BTS has conveyed the message of 'Love Yourself.' The Army has also created a new fandom culture." She noted that the culture is rooted in care, joy, and a sense of community, adding, "This cultural phenomenon was not present before. The Army has changed our perception of culture."
Especially, they have become a symbol of hope in a divided world. The production team stated, "They will move audiences with their unity that transcends gender, race, nationality, and more."
Another director, Grace Lee, also spoke about the BTS fandom, analyzing, "They are putting into practice the values that BTS has shared through music." She added, "People from various backgrounds communicate and support each other under the name 'Army.' The film captures their diversity, values, and the power of their community."
A representative expressed hope that "this work will serve as a tribute to everyone who loves BTS and become a love letter that offers comfort and inspiration to the Army."
