Brushing Teeth Next to Seafood and ‘Kak Twei’… A Foreigner’s Shocking Video from Korea’s Seafood Market

**Shocking Hygiene Issues Witnessed in a Market by Foreigners**

A shocking state of hygiene witnessed by foreigners in a market in Jongno, Seoul, has been reported.

The video, made public on JTBC's "Incident Team" on the 25th, shows a foreign tourist filming at a seafood store in the Jongno market and has been shared on social media, sparking significant controversy.

In the video, it appears that a man who seems to be the owner of the seafood store is seen brushing his teeth inside the shop.

The man spits the water used for brushing directly onto the floor of the store and even goes as far as rinsing his mouth by putting the water hose directly in his mouth, shocking many viewers.

Next to the area where he is brushing his teeth, there was a box filled with seafood for sale. The possibility of droplets from the brushing process touching the seafood products highlighted a serious hygiene issue.

The foreigner who filmed the situation seemed to find it absurd, even laughing at the scene.

**Clarification from the Merchants' Association and Reactions from Home and Abroad**

The production team of "Incident Team" contacted the local merchants' association to confirm their stance on the matter.

According to the merchants' association, the video was originally filmed last winter and posted on social media.

Upon checking with the store owner, the merchants' association stated that the owner explained, "At that time, I didn’t realize it was wrong," adding, "Since being pointed out last winter, I have not engaged in such behavior."

The merchants’ association also made it clear that such actions are "absolutely unacceptable in principle."

However, the video has recently been re-uploaded to a global social media account with 14.4 million followers, leading to criticism from netizens at home and abroad, labeling it "a disgrace for Korea."
