Yongin Woman Murder Suspect Captured a Day After Fleeing into the Hills
A man who murdered a woman in her 30s at an officetel in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, was apprehended by the police just one day after the incident.
On the 22nd, the Yongin West Police Station announced that at 8:56 AM that morning, they urgently arrested a man in his 30s, referred to as A, suspected of murder, in a mountainous area in Hongcheon, Gangwon Province.
Handlers from the Southern Gyeonggi Police's search dog unit located A's position, and shortly thereafter, the Gangwon Police's criminal mobile unit captured him at the scene. The police plan to transport A from the Gangwon Police Agency to the Yongin West Police Station to investigate the motive behind the crime, his escape route, and the overall details of the case.
Tragedy Occurred in the Officetel Underground Parking Lot
Earlier, A is suspected of stabbing and killing a female acquaintance in her 30s multiple times with a prepared weapon in the underground parking lot of the officetel in Suji-gu, Yongin, between 2:40 AM and 2:50 AM the previous day.

The victim was discovered by a nearby resident at approximately 5:45 AM, about three hours after the incident. The police were dispatched to the scene immediately after receiving the resident's report and initiated an investigation, identifying A as a key suspect through closed-circuit television (CCTV) analysis.
Police Focusing on the Motive and Pre-meditation
Following the incident, the Yongin West Police Station established an investigation headquarters and has been tracking A's escape route. With A being apprehended in the mountainous region of Gangwon Province, the police plan to closely investigate the premeditation of the crime, his actions immediately after, and the relationship with the victim.
A police official stated, "We will thoroughly clarify the suspect's escape motive and actions before and after the crime, while also examining the possibility of further crimes or accomplices."
