President Lee Jae-myung has made personnel appointments at the vice ministerial level in five ministries: the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

On the 29th, spokesperson Kang Yu-jung of the presidential office revealed in a written briefing that President Lee Jae-myung has carried out vice ministerial appointments in these five ministries.

Lee Jin-soo, head of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, has been appointed as the Vice Minister of Justice.

Born in 1974, Lee graduated from Yeongdong High School and Seoul National University. He has served as a legal examiner at the Ministry of Justice, a research officer at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, and as the chief prosecutor of the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office.

Spokesperson Kang noted that "Vice Minister Lee understands the difficulties faced by the criminal division, where most prosecutors work, as he is not a special prosecutor" and added, "He has been tasked with reviving the prosecution's fundamental mission as an expert in criminal investigations related to the public's everyday life."

Lee Ho-hyun, head of the Energy Policy Division at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, has been appointed as the Second Vice Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy.

Born in 1967, he hails from Yanggu, Gangwon Province, and graduated from Gangwon High School and Yonsei University. He passed the 39th National Civil Service Examination and has held positions such as Director of the Industry Workforce Division, Energy Innovation Policy Director, and Energy Policy Chief at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

He is reportedly well-respected within the organization for his strong feedback and clear directives, having been selected as the "most desired executive to work with."

Ryu Je-myung, the former Director of AI-based Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, has been appointed as the Second Vice Minister of Science and ICT.

Born in 1968, he graduated from Sogang High School and Seoul National University. He passed the 39th National Civil Service Examination and has held key positions such as Director of the Radio Policy Bureau, Information and Communication Industry Policy Director, and AI-based Policy Director in the Ministry.

Spokesperson Kang expressed anticipation that, along with the Minister of Science and ICT, who is a private sector expert, and the Chief for AI Future Planning, Ryu will actively promote the establishment of a foundation to leap to becoming one of the "top three AI powerhouse nations in the world."

Real estate reform advocate and health care expert appointed

Lee Sang-kyung, a professor at Gachon University’s Department of Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture, has been appointed as the First Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

Born in 1968 in Yeongcheon, Gyeongbuk, he graduated from Deokwon High School in Daegu and Seoul National University. He has served as an associate research fellow at the Seoul Development Institute, a member of the Gyeonggi Province Urban Planning Committee, and a member of the Ministry’s Public Housing Integrated Review Committee.

Spokesperson Kang commented on Lee Sang-kyung that he is "a representative real estate reform advocate who has strongly argued for the elimination of real estate speculation and the recovery of development benefits." He expressed hope for the introduction of various policies aimed at improving the housing rights of ordinary citizens through a practical approach to real estate reform.

Lee Hyung-hoon, the former Director of Mental Health Policy, has been appointed as the Second Vice Minister of Health and Welfare.

Born in 1966 in Gwangju, he graduated from Chosun University High School and Yonsei University. He passed the 38th National Civil Service Examination and has served as Director of Health Industry Policy, Health and Medical Policy Director, and Mental Health Policy Director at the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

Spokesperson Kang described him as a person with "the ability to mediate in conflict situations and leadership by example," stating that he is an appropriate individual to quickly resolve the medical crisis and lead recovery and normalization in the health sector based on meticulous planning.

Regarding this appointment, Spokesperson Kang emphasized, "This personnel selection focuses on individuals who will lead the change in the Republic of Korea at a turning point of great transition" and highlighted the commitment to drive changes in power institutions and fully support AI, energy, and the nurturing of bio-pharmaceutical sectors.
