Fire Breaks Out in Icheon Logistics Warehouse… Fire Authorities Issue 'Step 2 Response'

On the morning of the 13th, a large fire broke out at a logistics warehouse in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, prompting fire authorities to issue a Step 2 response and commence firefighting efforts.

The fire started around 10:29 AM at a logistics warehouse in Sujeong-ri, Bukgyeong-myeon, Icheon. The flames quickly spread inside the warehouse, and black smoke billowed into the sky.

Upon receiving reports, the fire authorities assessed that the initial burn area was extensive and issued a Step 1 response at 10:36 AM. However, as the fire proved difficult to control, the response was elevated to Step 2 just eight minutes later, at 10:44 AM.

Step 3 Response Under Consideration if Necessary

A 'Step 2 Response' involves mobilizing 51 to 80 pieces of equipment and personnel from 8 to 14 nearby fire stations, and is declared in case of large-scale fire situations in the area. Depending on the firefighting situation, the response may be downgraded to Step 1 or, if necessary, escalated to Step 3.
