A man in his 60s, suspected of being the arsonist of a fire that occurred in a high-rise apartment in Bongcheon-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, was found dead at the scene.
The police have identified the identity of the arson suspect through fingerprint analysis and believe that the individual took extreme measures immediately after setting the fire.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and fire authorities on the 21st, the fingerprints of the male body recovered from the 4th floor hallway of the Bongcheon-dong apartment fire scene were analyzed and confirmed to be the same person as A (in his 60s), who was under investigation as an arson suspect.

A lived in a villa near the apartment and was also found to have left a will before committing the arson.

The fire broke out at 8:17 AM on this day. The fire, which started in this 21-story apartment building, resulted in one death, and two people who jumped out to escape the smoke were taken to the hospital. Additionally, nine others are receiving treatment for smoke inhalation or respiratory distress.
Fire authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage, while the police are analyzing the incendiary tools used by A, the circumstances of the death, and the specific contents of the will.
Local residents have reacted by stating that A had a quiet personality, and there are also concerns about possible noise conflicts within the apartment complex, prompting the police to keep various possibilities open as they continue their investigation.
