[Breaking News] Kim Moon-soo: “Coercive Unification is Not Possible… Proposal for Unification through ‘Debate and Opinion Poll’ Next Week”

Kim Moon-soo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, expressed his stance on unification.

On the morning of the 8th at 8:30 a.m., Kim held an emergency press conference at his election camp office in Yeouido, Seoul, and proposed unification through a televised debate next Wednesday and public opinion polls on Thursday and Friday.

On that day, Kim stated, "I have fought for democracy my entire life. Party democracy is the most important democracy in our constitution." He then added, "However, the unfortunate situation unfolding before us is not democracy. I want to ask the leadership of the People Power Party. What is the reason for trying to remove me, Kim Moon-soo, in favor of an independent candidate who won’t even register for the primary?"

He also said, "I want to ask Han Duck-soo. Did you know about this scenario in advance? Is that why you resigned from your acting position and registered as an independent candidate while our party’s intense primary was underway?"

Kim pointed out, "It seems that the leadership of the People Power Party had been preparing a campaign committee for a candidate who did not register in advance, as if it were planned. Were the primary candidates just fillers?"

He emphasized, "This kind of coercive unification has no emotion or narrative. Unification must have synergy. Let’s campaign so that each candidate can verify and synergize. Let’s have a televised debate next Wednesday and conduct opinion polls on Thursday and Friday to achieve unification."

Towards the party leadership, Kim stated, "If things continue this way, we are heading down the path of mutual destruction. Even if we unify, we will not gain the support of the public. I, Kim Moon-soo, demand that the party leadership cease any attempts to pull me down under the pretense of forced candidate unification. I will not succumb to any injustice."

He continued, "The ongoing forced unification is actually a forced candidate replacement and an attempt to bring me down, which could lead to legal disputes. Stop it immediately.”

Additionally, he announced, "I invoke Article 74 of the Party Constitution regarding the priority of party affairs as a presidential candidate of the People Power Party. From this point forward, stop the party leadership's coercive demands for unification. Let’s go to the front line against Lee Jae-myung's Democratic Party."

Kim declared, "I will not attend any debate unilaterally decided by the party without the candidate's consent. This is illegal. I will take appropriate actions. However, I, Kim Moon-soo, will continue to make serious efforts to reach an agreement with Han Duck-soo to save the country after this point in time."

In closing, Kim said, "Fellow party members and citizens, please watch over me. I am truly ashamed. For the future generations living in this country, I will surely win the presidential election. I will do everything possible to stop this anti-democratic and coercive outrage. I, Kim Moon-soo, am a just and fair presidential candidate. I am a candidate who knows how to fight. I will undoubtedly win."
